Global Perspective in Illustration
Speaker: Dr. Nanette Hoogsla,
A lecture-cum-demonstration on “Global Perspective in Illustration” was conducted by Dr. Nanette Hoogslag from the Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University (UK) on 14 July 2026 at the BFA Department of Aditya College of Art, Architecture and Design. The session, held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., focused on the global relevance of illustration, emerging career opportunities, and innovative teaching practices adopted at the Cambridge School of Art.
The practical workshop encouraged collaborative creativity. Students worked in groups to develop design-related headlines within five minutes, followed by a class vote to select one headline for further exploration. Each student was then assigned a single alphabet and created an original visual interpretation using mixed media on A3 cartridge paper. The individual artworks were combined through stop-motion photography to produce a collective animated outcome.
The session was highly interactive and inspiring, encouraging teamwork, creative thinking, time management, and experimentation with contemporary illustration techniques. Students enthusiastically participated and appreciated the innovative learning experience.
