Sustainable Architecture and Bamboo design
ACA conducted a Workshop by Dr Helen Norrie on “Sustainable Architecture and Bamboo design”, lecturer in the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Tasmania, and founder of the Regional Urban Studies Laboratory (RUSL), a collaborative urban design research initiative that explores the opportunities for the future sustainable urban development, particularly in regional centres. The hands-on workshop conducted by Dr. Helen enabled students to work with a timber modular system sourced from Australia. The participants assembled the blocks to achieve vertical height while ensuring flexibility and stability, which are fundamental considerations in timber and bamboo design as well as in architectural practice that prioritises structural performance and material efficiency.
